you gotta be prepared to get results

Pre planning your meals is THE SECRET to making sure you don’t make crap food choices. When you are hungry and busy it is easier to grab something quick. We know that fast food is readily available. If you have steamed your veggies and popped them in a container with a great source or protein (today mine is prawns) you will eat that meal instead of a bought crap alternative.

When I am organised and pre plan and prepare my meals, I stick to my food intentions and I reap the rewards. Make time to do this and watch the results!

response from my old man re above dalai lama quote

I just read the Dalai Lama quote out to my dad…. He said, ‘that’s nice love…. You should have read that before you met that bloke at the beach who you told to F off’. This made me chuckle… I was training my 10 yr old boy (the one that had a stroke when he was born) we are doing a block of sessions of body boarding. He is growing with confidence and asked me if he could try to do it himself in the shallow water (I had been helping him get on the board and catch waves from deeper). This was a great achievement and so I was pleased he was prepared to have a go on his own. So, we are in real shallow water and J was trying to pull himself on the board and catch a Lil wave. Then a guy rocks up to me and says loudly, ‘why have you got him so shallow? He is too big and old to be here. This depth is for three year olds. If you are too scared to take him deeper I will take him out’. I took the guy aside and politely told him the score and thanked him for his concern. I didn’t want J to hear him. Unfortunately, this ‘helpful stranger’ wouldn’t take no for an answer. I sorta lost my cool and as politely as possible told him to F off. I was expanding my heart out to this gentleman but maybe not in the way the Dalai Lama intended 🙂

amazing dalai lama quote

Gotta love this quote from the big DL… V challenging to do this everyday but I think I’m gonna get this printed and post it somewhere where I can read it every morning. Thoughts?

“Every day, think as you wake up, today I am fortunate to be alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others; to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. I am going to have kind thoughts towards others, I am not going to get angry or think badly about others. I am going to benefit others as much as I can.”

what are you grateful for?

I was watching a Wayne Dyer you tube talk a couple of years ago. I was in a dark space and couldn’t see a way out. He suggested a great thing to do is think about the things you are grateful for every night just before you go to sleep. This way your subconscious is full of what you already have instead of what you have not got.

If the last thing you think about before you sleep is full of negativity this will marinate all night and will probably leave you feeling pretty low the next day.

Since I watched that video, every night without fail the last things I think about are the following:

Thank you for my health, my amazing job, where I live, my friends and family, my dog (you know I love my pooch). Thank you thank you thank you.

Try it. It works, well it did for me.

When we focus on what we have rather than what we haven’t got, the way that we view the world changes.

straight forward words

I saw this on a friend’s personal page, he is a Personal Trainer at the gym I used to work at. I love this! Pretty simple really.
Train like a DEMON,
Eat like a CAVEMAN,
 Sleep like a BABY,

thanks Franco 🙂

embrace your individuality and don’t worry about the stares

I sometimes get comments and stares from people because I have some muscle mass. This is the way I like to look and it might not be to everyone’s taste. Even a copper doing a door to door on Wed said to me ‘OMG you have bigger arms than me’. I thanked him profusely for the compliment, I’m not sure that’s what he intended 🙂

Embrace your individuality guys! I don’t care what you look like but I will continue to promote healthy choices on this page as I know how good healthy feels 🙂

prioritize your health… while you have the choice!

The most important thing in this life before everything else is your health. Without it EVERYTHING else cannot function. We forget this, we mustn’t forget.

I finished my workout this morning and was walking down the hill to my flat and met my neighbour. She is literally fighting for her life at the moment and just about to head into another battle against cancer (there have been lots of previous battles and still the cancer is undefeated).

I will not go into the nature and specifics of the chat I had with her this morning but it was a very acute reminder of just how bloody lucky I am.

It is sometimes very easy to forget what’s important and complain and whine about shit that simply isn’t important. We also put off those ‘gonna intentions’: ‘I’m gonna get fit, I’m gonna get more sleep, I’m gonna stop eating so much junk, I’m gonna stop working so hard… yadda yadda yadda

We all do these things, we are human. But please start to think about your health and what’s important. Without your health everything else pales in comparison… EVERYTHING.

You don’t need to be an exercise junkie like me! Just make better food choices, move more, sleep more, and take time out away from stress. Look after yourself and be grateful for your health.

I am so grateful that I am healthy and strong.
